Travis Landscaping was founded in January 2019. We are a residential landscape design and installation company based at 28991 IH-10 W, Suite 104, in Boerne, at the Scenic Loop Road exit, about 8 minutes from Main Street and a straight run down the highway into San Antonio.
We design yards and we build them. The person who walks your property and lays out the beds is the person whose crew will be standing in it a few weeks later. That is a deliberate structure rather than an accident of size, and it changes what gets drawn: no plant goes on a plan that the person drawing it has not already replaced for somebody else, and the drainage and grade get solved as part of the design instead of discovered on day two.

There are two kinds of company in this market: design and installation firms, and maintenance companies that also install. We are the first kind. That means the crew on your property does this work every day rather than a mowing crew trying something new, and it means we will not sell you a weekly service we cannot do well.
Irrigation in Texas is regulated by the TCEQ, and a company doing irrigation work for compensation has to have a licensed irrigator in charge. Ours is Elijah Washington, licence number LI0029636. He checks coverage over every lawn we lay, sets controllers to your address and current drought stage, and signs off on repairs. A large amount of the sprinkler work sold in San Antonio and Boerne is done by people who hold no licence at all.
We do not install Bermuda in shady yards, because it fails. We will not lay sod or turf over a yard that ponds until the drainage is fixed, because you would be paying us twice. We will talk you out of plants the deer will eat and out of grass in areas with under four hours of sun. If the honest answer is a smaller job than the one you called about, that is the answer you get.
Every service page on this site carries a cost range and the factors that move it. They are ranges rather than quotes, and every yard is different, but you should not have to book three appointments to find out roughly what something costs.
Almost everything that makes this job different here comes down to what is under the grass.
North and west of San Antonio you have a thin layer of soil over Edwards limestone and caliche, running alkaline at a pH of roughly 7.5 to 8.2, with rock at 4 to 8 inches on a great many lots. Water does not soak in. It sheets across the surface and arrives wherever the grade sends it, which is frequently the back corner of the house. Deer are not seasonal. And both water utilities have been restricting landscape watering to one day a week.
Those four facts govern every decision we make: which grass goes in which yard, how deep a tree is planted, whether a bed is dug down or built up, where a drain has to go before anything else happens, and what a planting plan can honestly be expected to survive.
It is also why we are sceptical of advice written for anywhere else. A great deal of standard landscaping practice assumes soil that drains and rain that arrives evenly, and neither is true here.

For a full yard, a plan you can see, with plants sized at mature width rather than nursery size. For a defined job like a drain or a patio, a written scope. If your neighbourhood has architectural review, the plan is built to what it allows.
Written and honest about what is a range rather than fixed. If your budget is set, say so on the first visit and we will build one phase properly rather than a whole yard you have to cut in half.
Demolition, then drainage and grade, then irrigation, then hardscape, then soil, then planting, then mulch, then lighting. Doing any of it out of order is how people end up paying twice.
We walk it with you, set the irrigation controller for your address and current drought stage, and hand you a written watering schedule for the establishment period. Then we come back and look at it.
